BCILattice is built by and for BCI researchers. We believe world-class neuroscience tools should be accessible to academic labs at every budget level. The BCINexus Academic Program provides verified students and non-profit researchers with significant discounts and additional collaboration opportunities.

Annual billing provides an additional 2-month discount on top of the academic discount.
Who is Eligible
- Enrolled students at accredited universities (undergraduate, masters, PhD)
- Postdoctoral researchers at universities or non-profit research institutes
- Faculty members at universities or academic medical centres
- Staff at non-profit research organisations (charitable registration required)
- Government-funded research labs (public research institutes)
How to Apply
- Go to bcinexus.io/academic-discount
- Sign in or create a BCINexus account using your institutional or educational email address
- Fill in your details on the application form:
- Full name
- Institution / university name
- Department or faculty
- Your role, student, postdoc, faculty member, or research staff
- Expected graduation or contract end date (students and postdocs)
- Submit the form, no photo ID, no document scans, and no letters required
- If your email domain is recognised, the 20% discount is applied instantly. Otherwise it is reviewed within 2 business days.
Academic status is re-verified annually. You'll receive an email reminder 30 days before expiry.
Department & Multi-Seat Licensing
For departments or institutes with multiple researchers, a department-wide or institution-wide licence is more cost-effective than individual subscriptions.

On the Researcher plan (academic) you get everything in the standard Researcher plan plus:
- Access to the BCINexus community pipeline library (340+ pipelines)
- Publish your own pipelines to the community library under CC BY 4.0
- Pipeline citation tracking, see how many researchers have imported your work
- Priority queue for community pipeline review
- Reduced-cost upgrade path to Lab and Institution plans
On the Lab plan (academic):
- Everything above plus team workspace for up to 5 researchers
- SHA-256 dataset integrity verification for reproducibility
- Shared experiment comparisons, compare results across lab members
- Role-based access (PI as Owner, students as Members)
Teaching & Course Use
BCILattice can be used in university courses covering BCI, neuroscience, signal processing, or machine learning. Special arrangements for teaching use:
- Free course access, students in a registered BCILattice course can access the Researcher plan free for the duration of the course (semester)
- Classroom licences, request bulk student accounts for a lab class, managed by the instructor
- Course materials, sample datasets, exercise templates, and lab manual provided to registered instructors
- LMS integration, BCILattice session export files can be submitted as assignment deliverables

Research Collaboration
The BCINexus research collaboration programme connects labs and enables joint research:
- Cross-institution workspaces, invite collaborators from other universities to a shared team workspace
- Dataset sharing, share preprocessed datasets (not raw recordings) with collaborators via BCINexus cloud storage
- Joint pipeline development, co-author and co-publish community pipelines
- Pre-publication pipeline embargo, publish a pipeline with restricted access before paper submission, then release publicly on acceptance
- Featured research, high-impact work from the community is featured on the BCINexus blog and newsletter
