Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: July 7, 2026 | Part of the Terms of Service
1. Why this policy exists
BCINexus hosts research data, studies, models, and a review community. One careless or malicious user can damage work that took someone else years. This policy expands Section 6 of the Terms of Service and applies to every user, on every plan, across BCILattice, bcinexus.xyz, the community, and all APIs.
If something isn't listed here but a reasonable researcher would consider it abusive, assume it's not allowed.
2. Permitted use
You may use the Services for lawful research, education, development, evaluation, and commercial work permitted by your plan. That includes uploading datasets you have rights to, building and publishing studies, training models, sharing projects with your team, and participating in community review.
3. Content you may not upload
- Content you don't own or lack the legal right to use, process, and share
- Identifiable personal, patient, or sensitive data without legal authorization, participant consent, and required ethics approval (IRB/IEC or equivalent)
- Malware, ransomware, viruses, or scripts designed to damage or disrupt the platform or other users
- Content that infringes copyrights, trademarks, licenses, or other third-party rights
- Misleading, plagiarized, fabricated, or unsupported research claims presented as validated results
- Unlawful content of any kind
4. Behavior that gets accounts suspended
- Attempting unauthorized access to the platform, its infrastructure, APIs, or other users' accounts or data
- Bypassing or probing security, licensing, authentication, rate limits, or access controls
- Reverse engineering, decompiling, or disassembling platform components, except where law expressly permits it
- Sharing single-user credentials across multiple people or evading plan limits
- Scraping, bulk-downloading, or mass-harvesting community content, user profiles, or datasets outside documented APIs
- Overloading infrastructure — deliberate or negligent — including abusive automation and denial-of-service behavior
- Impersonating other users, institutions, or BCINexus staff
- Using the Services in violation of export controls, sanctions, privacy law, or clinical research rules
5. Research integrity
Publishing to the BCINexus community is a scientific act. Do not publish results you know to be wrong, manipulate benchmarks, fabricate reproducibility claims, or submit the same work under multiple identities to game review or reputation metrics.
Review manipulation — reviewing your own work through another account, coordinating favorable reviews, or retaliating against reviewers — is treated as seriously as a security violation.
6. Resource limits
BCINexus may set and enforce reasonable limits on storage, compute, API usage, bandwidth, project size, and upload types per plan. Limits are published on the pricing page or in your order form. Working around them — including via multiple free accounts — violates this policy.
7. Enforcement
Depending on severity, we may warn you, remove or quarantine content, restrict features, suspend the account, or terminate it permanently. Threats to platform security or other users' data get no warning.
We may investigate suspected violations and preserve related records. Where the law requires it, we may report activity to authorities.
If you believe an enforcement action was a mistake, contact [email protected] from your account email. To report abuse by another user, use the in-product report tools or email the same address.
